Hey guys. Welcome back to the podcast, Episode 3. I didn’t put anything out for the last couple weeks because I was recovering from a tooth extraction, nothing too major. But I could not talk very much without pain, but I’m good now. So it’s great.

This episode was actually requested by a couple of you, asking about which podcasts I like listening to and what I would recommend. So, yeah, I just wanna talk about a couple of the podcasts that inspire me, a couple ones that I just really enjoy.

The first three I want to talk about are “She” with Jordan Lee Dooley, “Walk in Love” with TJ and Brooke, and “That’s Joy” with CC Caballero, which, she’s now CC Lutz. Those are the three main podcasts that got me into listening to podcasts in the first place.

“She,” with Jordan Lee Dooley; she started out talking about being someone who’s multi-passionate and an entrepreneur, someone who wants to be a good wife, be a good leader, be a good follower of Jesus, and now she’s a mom of almost three kids on this side of heaven.

And, yeah, I just, I really enjoy listening to what she has to say about owning a business and doing it God’s way. And now she’s talking all about how to live your life in a more healthy and holistic way. Mind, body, and spirit, and bringing on experts that can talk about those things with her. Some really great information. I really enjoy listening to her talk.

The next one would be Walk in Love, which I mentioned in the last podcast. My sister-in-law, Kat, recommended it to me. Her and her husband, my husband’s brother, have been listening to them for a long time. They own a t-shirt company that’s Christian, and they have all these really cool designs about walking with Jesus and all of this stuff.

Definitely check them out. They’re moving away from having T-shirts right now, but they’re still gonna have a couple drops this year, which is really cool. And they started a podcast to talk about life, and parenting, and, yeah. I’ve been binge-watching/binge-listening their episodes lately. And it’s been really great to hear people give advice on life and marriage and having a business and ’cause they have a business too, and they talk about that. And just also giving really good life advice.

And then That’s Joy with CC. She is actually one of the bigger influences of like why I wanted to start a podcast in the first place. Just because I really have a lot to say and a lot of things that I want to share. I think joy is really important to talk about because it’s really hard to find and choose joy in a life that’s so chaotic and messy in today’s day and age. Especially with just all of the busyness that comes with living.

The next ones I am gonna talk about. Let’s see. I also mentioned this one last week, Naughty Nation. They’re an offshoot of Walk in Love. Brooke and TJ are the ones that do Walk in Love, and then TJ and his friend Matt started Naughty Nation because they play Apex Legends.

It’s a whole, it’s a whole thing. Super funny. I really enjoy just laughing because they’re just dudes being dudes, talking about random stuff. They do a lot of bits. They could be stand-up comedians. It’s great.

Speaking of bits, they did a bit about me, and I’m gonna play that for you guys because not only was it super hilarious, it also mentioned the podcast, so I’m gonna play that for you right now.

Excerpt from Naughty Nation: “Summer Perkins. The Turkey noises had me dying also. I do have a podcast I just started, though. Okay. Life with Summer. (Kira) Hey guys. Welcome to Life with Summer. On today’s episode, we’re gonna talk about what to do when a boy won’t stop messaging you.”

“Life with Summer. Life with Summer. It’s time for life with Summer. Summer, it’s summer, all year round here. Hey guys. Thanks for listening. Now we’re gonna talk about what to do when a boy won’t stop messaging you. And for me, I’m gonna use a real-life example, okay? I’m in my Instagram DMs, and I have a message from Matt Kark. He says, Hey girl, wanna kayak? What do you do? Well, that’s where Life with Summer is gonna help you figure that out. Okay. With a simple stroke of the Keys, all I say is Get lost, loser. And now, oh, he sent me another DM.

Oh. I feel like I, I’m lost in your eyes. I’m lost in your eyes. He said, Oh, that’s kind of nice. Uh oh. Summer Perkins is married. Oh.

Get lost, loser. I’m married. I’m married. And just like that, you know how to respond to a guy who won’t stop messaging you. Unfortunately, it’s only if you’re married. I have no advice for any single lady. Thanks for listening to Life with Summer. It’s summer year-round. When it’s life with summer. That was really good.

Summer. I hope you recorded that because you just, you just got your intro. I just got you an intro, intro, and outro. Let’s go.”

I did record that because it was hilarious and I really enjoyed it. Also, I do have advice for single ladies. If a guy was messaging me and I didn’t want him to, I would either delete it, or if he kept messaging me, I’d just block him.

Simple. Simple and easy. Or I’d screenshot it, send it to my friends, and then block him. ‘Cause that’s, that’s entertaining.

Now, back to giving you podcast recommendations. The next podcast I will talk about is called “Minimalish.” Minimalish is a podcast about minimalism.

I really enjoy listening to things like that because I am an aspiring minimalist. I got really into decluttering a couple years ago and just living with less and simplifying my life. And I am not perfect by any means because I still have way too much stuff, but I really like her podcast because she talks about how you can be minimalist, but how you can make it work for your life.

Because not everyone is gonna only have 30 books in their house and have everything be white and stark. ‘Cause that’s like the image that you think of when you hear of the word minimalist. But she says Minimalish because you can make it work for you, and it’s whatever’s gonna make your life easier and simpler and make room for the things that you actually do enjoy and want to have in your life.

Kind of like the KonMari method of sparking joy, like you don’t have to get rid of everything to still keep all of that in your house. Like it’s not “get rid of everything and only have 30 outfits or less.” I really enjoy listening to her. She’s also a mom, and she talks about how you can do minimalism as a parent and as a family.

Next is “Called to Love.” It’s a podcast all about foster care and adoption. I have wanted to do foster care and adoption since I was 12. A lot of family, friends have adopted and done foster care, and it’s just always been a part of my life. I’ve always known that it’s something that I cared about and something I wanted to do one day.

And before Austin and I got married, we even talked about that, and he’s also always wanted to do that. And I figure, why not get better information before we even start the process of anything like that in the future? It’s got really good information talking about all sides of adoption: the birth family, the adoptee, the adoptive family, and the extended families of all of those people. It’s called the adoption triad or the adoption constellation. There’s a lot of really good language and talking about a better thing for everybody.

The next one is “The Maker’s Playbook.” It’s a podcast about creating and art, and making a business of doing what you love and creating. The people on it are photographers and potters, I believe, haven’t listened to that one in a while, but I still really enjoy it because I want to have my own pottery studio one day. I wanna have an art studio in my house.

I have a lot of hobbies that I really enjoy, and a lot of them are more creative in nature, like paint. I don’t do a lot of painting, but I like painting furniture and things. I do embroidery and crochet and stuff like that, and sewing, and I don’t have the space or the resources to do pottery right now, but it is my favorite medium. But it’s expensive and it requires a kiln and a potter. And you can have a pottery wheel.

You could also do hand building, but if you want a pottery wheel, it’s also expensive. And then the clay and the glaze, and it’s a whole thing. I would love to talk more about it. So, if you have any questions about pottery, I will talk your ear off.

The next one is called “The Brett Cooper Show.” She was on The Daily Wire doing her own show called The Comment Section, but she’s recently moved and started her own show away from The Daily Wire that’s just fully hers, and she controls everything that she gets to talk about. It’s more politically leaning, but she’s a Christian, and she has really great values, really great things to say, and a lot of her values align with my own. And I really enjoy getting to hear about different political things and stuff from a source that I trust.

The next one is “Hey, It’s the Luskos.” Levi and Jenny Lusko are the pastors of Fresh Life Church in Kalispell, Montana. He’s a bestselling author, and they have their own podcast where they talk with all sorts of people.

Sometimes it’s just them, but they have a lot of really cool guests and just talking about faith and living like Jesus. And, just all sorts of really cool things. I’ve only recently started listening to it, but it’s already just really blessed my life.

The next one is “Becoming Something with Jonathan Pokluda.” He is a pastor in, I don’t remember, Waco? I think he’s in, I think he’s in Texas. I don’t remember. But he’s a young adult pastor. And so the podcast is specifically for young adults trying to figure out life during college, after college, dating, married, engaged, single, all the things that young adults are dealing with, because we’re all in different stages of life.

And it’s just like you could have some friends that have four kids already and some kids that have, or some friends that have no kids and some that aren’t married, some that are dating, some that are engaged, some that are like traveling the world, some that are in college, some that are getting their master’s degrees.

Just all sorts of things in being a young adult that just like we’re all in such different seasons, and it’s super confusing. To be a young adult, a lot of the time, and it’s been really great to listen to a podcast that’s specifically for my age group. I’m slowly moving out of the young adult category because most people say young adults are like 18-25. The young adult group that my husband and I do, we say 18-35. Perspective. I don’t know.

The next one is “With the Perrys.” It is Preston and Jackie Perry. Jackie Perry. Yep. And they’re a married couple. They used to do spoken word poetry. I think they’re still poets. They’ve got books. Jackie Hill Perry. Her book is “Gay Girl, Good God.” And it’s just so good. It’s about the beautiful redemption story of how Jesus takes things and makes them beautiful, and accepts you right where you’re at. And just all of that kind of thing. They talk about a lot of different stuff, and I really enjoy listening to them as well.

The next one is “More Than Roommates.” It’s specifically a marriage podcast talking about making sure that you don’t just become merely roommates with your spouse, that you’re prioritizing your relationship and taking steps to make sure that you’re never just roommates and passive, and that you’re making each other a priority and loving each other well.

And then, especially like when you do have kids, like a lot of times it gets harder to prioritize each other when you’re just doing so much parenting. ‘Cause a lot of couples,  once their kids move out, they’re like, “Oh, we don’t have anything in common anymore.” ‘Cause they have neglected to spend time with each other instead of only spending time with the kids.

And that’s something that I don’t wanna see happen to my marriage. And just all sorts of things can get in between your spouse and you and make you just really passive, and I don’t want that. So that’s been a really great podcast that has really blessed me, talking about marriage and doing it God’s way and keeping Jesus at the center, and yeah, just making each other a priority.

The next one is “The Fortitude Podcast.” It’s Micah and Sarah. I don’t remember the last name. Let me see. Micah And Sarah. I don’t remember their last name, but it’s Micah and Sarah. And they talk about life experiences that strengthen them and build up their fortitude. “The strength of mind that enables a person to encounter danger or bear pain or adversity with courage.” That’s part of their about section. I haven’t listened to them in a while, but I have really enjoyed listening to them talk about their life experiences and how it’s brought them closer to each other and closer to God, and made them better friends and parents, and just all the things.

The next one is called “The Journaling Room.” I just started listening to that one. It’s also a pretty new podcast. It’s talking about journaling and the practice of it and how it can help you process your emotions and learn how to pray better. ‘Cause you can write down your prayers and how to get through life’s changes a lot easier because you’re able to communicate what your brain is thinking.

The next one’s called “The Happy Homeschooler Podcast.” It’s basically just like it says, it’s just talking with all sorts of different people about homeschooling and different tips and tricks. Because I would love to homeschool one day. And I’m hoping that it will be able to happen. So I wanna prepare while I don’t have kids, the more preparation I have, I guess I can maybe do it better. That’s my theory, but you never know until you get there.

The next ones, let’s see. There’s “Married with Benefits.” That one’s also another marriage podcast, and it’s talking about just a lot of tips and things. And they have a series right now on the Secrets of Happy and Healthy Couples, and it’s so good. There’s a book that’s written by one of the hosts, and they just go through each of the secrets mentioned. There’s 12 secrets in the book. They go through them way more in-depth. And then they have a 13th bonus secret that they go through as well. It’s so good. It’s been so helpful and just biblically based and also science-based, which is really cool. I love when science backs up the Bible because God created everything, so why wouldn’t it?

The others are, they’re technically podcasts, but they’re more recorded messages from churches that are posted in podcast form. So, there’s “Authentic Church,” which is in North Carolina, and “Canvas Church,” which is in Kalispell. They’ve got Campus churches all over, and then there’s Fresh Life with the Luskos that I mentioned. They also have campuses all over.

Then, Foursquare Polson, which is my husband’s parents’ church. I listen to their messages online. Then there’s Elevation Church with Stephen Furtick. He’s also in North Carolina, just a lot of really good messages, and sermons, and teaching on the Bible. And I just, I’ve also been finding other churches around the US that I, like on Instagram, a church will come across my feed and I’ll see if they have their messages on Spotify in podcast form. And then I go and listen to some of their messages. It’s really great. And then people will send me other messages that people have posted, and all that kind of thing.

I have a lot more that I listen to, but not as frequently as I listen to all of these other ones. If you have any questions and wanna hear more, feel free to DM me or make a comment.

Yeah, I really enjoy listening to podcasts. A lot of them are full of really great information that I didn’t know before, or needed a refresher. Sometimes I listen to; there’s a podcast, a couple podcasts I listen to that are specifically for learning Spanish. Podcasts are just a really great resource that I can listen to while I’m doing other things, and just keeps me learning.

I would love to be just a continuous lifelong learner. And podcasts have really helped me do that. If there’s a topic that I’m interested in, I can usually type it into a search bar and find a podcast on it, which is why I’ve found a lot of podcasts about marriage and business and living life like Jesus and ones specifically for women and one specifically for young adults and different things like that. And things on minimalism and other things that I’m interested in, art, and business. And yeah, it’s been really good to be able to learn more about things that I’m interested in audio form, so I can like, do things around the house while I’m doing that, or I listen to a lot of things at work because I do a lot of sewing and it keeps my mind focused on the task.

All right. Those are all of the podcasts that I’m recommending for this episode. If you guys have any other questions or want any other podcast recommendations, just shoot me a message.
